The Astroknots : Black and White Micron Pen Drawings

These are the Astroknots, the creatures, the giant step in evolution that have created “Unstoppable Tomorrow : The World of Future Antiquity”.  I was working on an illustration job back in 2006 when I drew the first of these black and white super detailed, dark, ominous, amoebic storms.  I had been working on some full color versions from 2004-2005, and a few of those paintings aside, these black and white images to me are the first series of drawings that really gave these creatures or entities their persona.

To me they are humanities loss of control of the world that we have developed for our own convenience and power incarnate.  A writhing series of amoeboid creatures that consume and obliterate everything in their paths.  They are like undulating, ever-changing beings of destruction and consumption.  An amalgamation of our creations and our desire to continually produce, control, and throw our creations and our humanity to the wayside without a second thought about their future, existence, or place in the world.  They have in the process replaced humans as the dominant predators of the earth.  They are my visual interpretation of the hyper paced world of war, man, machine, production, consumption, and waste we reside in today.
